FANBOLT: A Look at the 8 New Movies Coming Out This Week: ‘Argylle,’ ‘The Promised Land,’ and More!

There’s an exciting lineup of new movies coming out this week!
First up is Argylle, an action-packed thriller revolving around a talented writer portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard. Her character unexpectedly finds herself at the center of a global crisis when her spy novels become the key to saving the world. Sam Rockwell, John Cena, and Ariana DeBose also star.
Additionally, The Promised Land takes viewers back to 1700s Denmark, immersing us in a historical narrative anchored by Mads Mikkelsen. There’s also a documentary, The Greatest Night in Pop, which tells the story of the night some of the world’s greatest singers came together to record “We Are the World.”
Lastly, the lighthearted film How to Have Sex follows the adventures of three teenagers on a memorable vacation in Britain for what should be the best summer of their lives.

Fitting In (2023)

Release Date: In theatres on Friday, February 2, 2024.
Summary: Fitting In is about Lindy (Maddie Ziegler), a teen who has just moved into her grandmother’s old house with her single mother, Rita (Emily Hampshire). Lindy has a new boyfriend, Adam (D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai), and things are heating up, so Lindy decides to go to a gynecologist to get on birth control. That doctor’s office visit will change everything for Lindy.
What to Watch For: The movie is from filmmaker Molly McGlynn, known for her 2017 award-winning film Mary Goes Around and her work as director on TV series, including Grown-ish, Grace and Frankie, and The Wonder Years.
Word on the Street: The movie won the Best Canadian Feature Film at the 2023 Vancouver International Film Festival.
My Take: Maddie Ziegler is best known for her roles as Christina in The Book of Henry (2017) and Velma in West Side Story (2021). And, of course, Maddie is known as Sia’s ‘Muse,’ having appeared in her videos and on stage with Sia at Coachella last year.
