gaye: GLAAD Unveils Nominations for 36th Annual Media Awards
January 23, 2025
Gayes! GLAAD recently unveiled the nominations for their 36th annual GLAAD Media Awards.
Several projects and Black talent received nominations including RuPaul, TS Madison, Keke Palmer, Durand Bernarr, Lil Nas X, Don Lemon, Victoria Monet, Karamo Brown, Tokyo Stylez, and more.
“The GLAAD Media Awards were created nearly four decades ago to champion LGBTQ stories amid a deeply hostile and unsafe time for our community. Today, this mission holds true and ever-more important as attacks against LGBTQ people are not only growing but finding new avenues. “ said President & CEO of GLAAD Sarah Kate Ellis in a statement on their website.
The GLAAD Media Awards selects their nominations based on carefully crafted criteria in categories: fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ+ community, boldness and originality, impact, and overall quality.
In addition to these criteria, the awards look to celebrate and represent the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives.
This year's award ceremony is special as it celebrates 40 years of advocacy and culture. Want to know the rundown on this years nominees? Tap in below.
